The Haflinger horse race

Easter Monday

 

The Haflinger horse race traditionally takes place on Easter Monday at the Meran racecourse. At 10 in the morning, all participants – both two and four-legged – start parading from the town centre to the racecourse, while the race takes place in the afternoon. A varied fringe programme ensures fun and excitement for the whole family.

AsfaltArt

June

 

From its humble beginnings as a small-town event over ten years ago, AsfaltArt has evolved into a major street art festival. Every year in early June, scores of artists and art groups breathe new life into the old town of Merano, showing off their skills in acrobatics, clowning, stage magic and more with over 200 performances to impress and amaze onlookers of all age groups – an absolute highlight.

World Music Festival

In the summer months, the water lily pond in the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle turns into a stage for internationally acclaimed artists, and the various garden landscapes provide a unique backdrop for the audience. Das Traubenfest

Oktober

 

Seit 1886 werden in Meran Erntedank und das Ende der Weinlese mit dem Traubenfest gefeiert. Zahlreiche Musikkapellen, Volkstanzgruppen und Schützenvereine ziehen auf geschmückten Festwagen durch die Stadt. Außerdem kann man allerlei Südtiroler Spezialitäten probieren und dabei musikalischen Klängen von traditionell bis modern lauschen. Die Stände des Meraner Marktes mit ihren regionalen Erzeugnissen laden zum Bummeln ein.

Merano WineFestival

The Meran WineFestival takes place every year in November and attracts wine lovers and connoisseurs from all over the world. Now among the most important wine fairs in Europe, the festival offers a diverse programme of events including lectures, tastings, awards ceremonies and much more.

Meran Christmas market

Christmas time

 

Starting from the end of November, the Christmas market opens its wooden stalls along the Passer promenade, for the delight of young and old. There is so much to see, from wool, wood and fabric handicrafts to all sorts of Christmas decorations, and so much to taste, from sweet pastries to savoury delicacies.
